My old mate Rob had a right result on the Grand Union canal yesterday. Targeting perch, he was fishing a big lobworm tight to a boat on a suburban stretch of the waterway.
And this is what found the bait – a 6lbs 3oz chub. Rob thought he’d hooked a carp initially, but eased off when he saw it was a big old chevin!
It’s a seriously big chub for a canal. The biggest I’ve heard of is a 7lb 3oz fish from the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal.
